It is recommended that firmware updates be done using the mSetup configuration utility. However, there are cases in which it might not be possible or feasible to use the mSetup utility. First, the mSetup utility is only available for PC. Secondly, a problematic camera might not be able to connect to a PC, and sometimes a firmware flash will solve such a problem. When this is the case, a manual firmware flash is warranted.
In order to manually flash the firmware, please follow the following instructions:
Download the latest version of the Mobius firmware, and then copy it to the root directory of a memory card using a memory card reader. 'Root directory' simply means that the file be copied to the card, and not placed into a folder on the card.
Insert the memory card into the camera, and connect it to a computer using a USB data cable.
Once connected, the camera should power on. The LED will rapidly flash blue. After about 30 seconds, the LED will turn off, and then turn back on solid orange. DO NOT PRESS ANY BUTTONS DURING THE UPDATE PROCESS!
If successful, the camera will be recognized by the computer and mount as removable storage. Additionally, the firmware file should no longer be on the memory card, having been deleted by the camera during the update process.
